Sail on the Charles River, pedal your way down a scenic bike path or power-walk through the Boston Common. Bicycling and Walking There are a number of scenic bicycle trails in the area. The Emerald Necklace (617-635-4505) traverses nine parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted (who also designed New York City's Central Park) and Charles Eliot. The Dr. Paul Dudley White Charles River bike path follows the river for nearly 17 miles, winding from Watertown square to the Museum of Science.
