The Hotel Hermitage was founded in the early 1950s by the Genoese aristocrat Paolo De Ferrari who fell in love with the fine pink-tinted sand and deep blue - crystal-clear sea of Biodola - a small fishing village. The beauty of the setting remains a highlight of the hotel we see today - a modern structure which sits right beside the sea - blending harmoniously with the sand and rocks and nestling in the luxuriant Mediterranean landscape that surrounds it - a protected area within the Tuscan Archipelago Park.
